The child of pure water

Kendaa

UnYK 234
August 2024
130cm / 120cm
1 Zircon / Chameleon Pigments

Painted in August 2024, just before my departure for the DRC, Kendaa was born from a simple and vital hope: to offer children water that is not feared, water that heals, that nourishes, that connects to life.

The hues oscillate between soft greens and deep turquoise blues, with light peeking through every crack.

A metallic blue line runs across the painting like a celestial river, connecting heaven and earth. To the right, a rich, layered, and deep structure anchors the movement.

The raw zircon, embedded in the fissures, absorbs and reflects light. The pigments within it change tone, like water with the seasons.

Kendaa is a fluid and vibrant offering. It celebrates childhood, dignity, and the water that is still lacking where so many children grow up thirsty, in every sense of the word.

Kendaa

Assignment

Kendaa is a painting for thirsty children.

Not just dreams or peace, but water. Pure, accessible, stable water.

This painting was created in the spirit of a drilling project, with the hope of one day being able to offer street children access to this essential resource.

Since then, everything has changed. But water remains, more than ever, an urgent issue.

The sale of this painting will allow us to take the first concrete steps: field studies, local initiatives, ways to start where others give up.

To offer a well is to offer time, health, and a beginning of dignity.

Kendaa is a spring. It carries within it a passage. It calls to dig, to reach out, to make spring forth.
