1 Faceted Garnet
by Latifa in Tanzania in 2019

It is a painting born from a collapse — that of a life built on distant lands, of a daily life shared with children I cherished as my own, of a dream trampled by brutality.

And yet, in the golden brilliance of this painting, in its changing pigments and deep pink cracks, a promise: to transform losses into inner and outer riches.

Because sometimes, the real treasures are not what we have, but what we choose to become when nothing else remains.

The garnet stone, cut by Latifa in Tanzania, anchors the work in this feminine force that knows how to give form, even to chaos.

Ha'Zyna is the beauty born from mourning, the light in the violets, the decision not to fade away.

Assignment

This painting was created when everything had to be started over.

When I left the lands of Africa, I left behind houses, children, and projects.

Today, Ha'Zyna supports what I continue to build remotely: access to healthcare, water, milk for babies, and safety for survivors.

Latifa's garnette, at its heart, is the stone of a woman who has also learned to carve her pain.

Every sale helps pave the way out of war, fear, and abandonment. Because even far away, we can remain united and overcome the insurmountable!

Because treasures, sometimes, take the form of a painting.
